Bharat Ratna Rashtra Rishi Nanaji Deshmukh a renowned Leader was founder and first Chancellor of Mahatma Gandhi Chitrakoot Gramodaya University (MGCGV). MGCGV actively fosters academic leadership through various initiatives and organizational structures. The university’s academic structure emphasizes interdisciplinary approaches and encourages faculty to be intellectual leaders and Academicians. MGCGV also emphasizes the development of analytical and community leadership skills in students, fostering a culture of critical thinking and free expression.

Academic Development: Ensuring the quality and relevance of academic programs providing academic leadership to other institution-

1. Value and Social Responsibilities (VSR)

The University promotes a value system in students so that they are in harmony with self, within family, society and nature. To achieve the aforesaid objectives following activities are organized: Motivational speech by eminent personalities: Motivational speeches are organized, where students get acquainted about the teachings of great personalities and their experiences. Great works done by visionaries motivate the students to prepare themselves to serve the society.

Vande Mataram : National song is played every Friday at 10.30 AM on campus. Students, teachers, staff, and visitors pay respect to the national song. This tradition has helped foster a sense of unity and patriotism.

Shramdan:The tradition of Shramdaan by students and all staff has been a unique practice of one hour weekly after Vandematram. This is our routine activity since establishment of university. This activity not only helps in making campus clean but imbibes a sense of respect among the students for the importance of labor .

Prayer: Prarthna sabha a unique feature of the University is a collective congregation of the students, teachers, staff etc.in Vivekananda Open Sabhagaar on every last Friday of the month. University members participate in Patriotic songs, excerpts from motivational books, teachings of great visionaries etc.

Paying homage to great personalities: University celebrates the important days of great personalities and recollects their role and contributions for the nation. This inculcates a sense of gratefulness in students. The students visit nearby villages and pay homage to the families of Martyrs.

Gram Pravas: Village camps are organized periodically where students and their mentors interact with the villagers. This helps the students to understand the problems and hard realities of rural life. Students undertake development activities like literacy, livelihood training, environmental awareness.

Yoga and Meditation: University organizes various Yoga and Meditation activities in campus. This activity helps in stress management, improved concentration, physical fitness, good sleep, emotionally strong ultimately improving academic performance and building a healthy youth for the nation.

Bonding with Nature: University is committed to preservation of natural gifts, like cleaning of water bodies, planting trees, preserving species, maintaining cleanliness on campus. Plantation is a regular activity in University during monsoon season and on important occasions/events. This has transformed the University campus into a lush green campus.

Leadership Development: University organizes regular programmes for holistic development and leadership development of the students inviting resource persons from various fields.

2.         Kaushal Vikas Kendra

Deendayal Upadhayay Kaushal Vikas Kendra (DDUKK) is an unique centre of university providing training in the various trade for employment generation. This centre also providing education in B. Voc. and M.Voc. and Diploma and Certificate courses. This centre more useful in NEP 2020 where Vocational Subjects are compulsory for the students.

3.         Rural Development Oriented Programmes

The faculty of Rural Development and Business Management running MBA in 1. Rural Management, 2. Agri Business Management, 3. Small Business Management. These courses are based on the Philosophy on Bharat Ratan Nana Deshmukh.

4.         Chief Minister’s Community Leadership Programme (CMCLDP):

MGCGV working on Chief Minister’s Community Leadership Programme (CMCLDP) in all 313 development blocks of Madhya pradesh. CMCLDP offers two programme:

1.         Bachelor of Social Work (with specialization in Community Leadership and Sustainable Development) popularly known as BSW (CL& SD).

2.         Master’s Degree in Social Work (with specialization in Community Leadership and Sustainable Development)popularly known as MSW (CL& SD).

Chief Minister’s Community Leadership Development Programme (CMCLDP) is a unique and innovative initiative of the Government of Madhya Pradesh being implemented since 2015 in collaboration with Mahatma Gandhi Chitrakoot Gramodaya Vishwavidyalaya (MGCGV), Chitrakoot, Satna (MP). The syllabi for various modules of this unique programme were designed with the active involvement of Administrators, NGO practitioners and academicians having expertise in implementing the various government programmes and concepts related to the sustainable development.

The students under these academic programme swill select a village or an urban habitat as their social laboratory and will do a project under the guidance of trained mentors/officers working in NGOs/related departments. The project work involves setting-up a target of Sustainable Development Goals in consultation with the local community and mobilizes the community to implement certain interventions for achieving the target. The results of the behavioral changes are measured against certain indicators.

5.         Fine Arts

            The Fine Arts faculty is a leading faculty having courses like BFA and MFA in 1. Painting  2. Sculpture 3. Fine Arts 4. Music and  5. Photography.

6.         B.Sc. Ag, M.Sc. Ag and Agriculture Farm

University has a big Farm of 176 hectare and running various courses like B.Sc. Ag, M.Sc. Ag, M.Sc. Home Science etc. Which makes unique and adoptable to other university and colleges.

7.         Organic Farming

The University has produce sufficient structure of organic farming production of Wormy-wash, Wormy-compost, Bio-gas, NADEP, Worm Production Centre and a number of organic fertilizer and organic pesticides.

8.         GIS and Remote Sensing Centre

GIS and Remote Sensing Centre is pioneer in the country which promote and assist to the accurate planning system in Madhya Pradesh and providing training and education of GIS and Remote Sensing to students. The all students of this centre gate employment opportunity.

9.         Interdisciplinary Focus:

MGCGV has five faculties like 1. Faculty of arts, 2. Faculty of Agriculture, 3. Faculty of Science and Environment, 4. Faculty of Rural Development and Business Management, 5. Faculty of Engineering and Technology, and 17 Departments which make it Interdisciplinary Focus. This structure promotes collaboration and allows faculty from diverse disciplines to work together on complex problems.
