Brief Profile of the Vice Chancellor
Prof. Bharat Mishra, an eminent academician and visionary leader, has been serving as the Vice-Chancellor of Mahatma Gandhi Chitrakoot Gramodaya Vishwavidyalaya, Chitrakoot (M.P.) since 29th November 2021. Born on 10th October 1966, Prof. Mishra holds M.Sc. in Physics and a Ph.D., and brings with him a distinguished professional career spanning over 33 years in teaching, research, and academic administration.
At MGCGV, he has held several key positions, including Professor, Registrar, Director – Gramodaya Community College Scheme, Head – Department of Physics, and In-charge – IT Cell and Computer Centre. He has also contributed in technical leadership roles as Chief Information Security Officer and Nodal Officer for the M.P. State Electronics Development Corporation.
A committed researcher and mentor, Prof. Mishra has supervised 42 Ph.D. and 09 M.Phil. scholars. His academic output includes 137 research papers, 21 books/book chapters, 01 edited volume, and 04 copyright/patent. He has successfully completed 02 research projects and has delivered numerous expert talks.
His contributions to science, education, and institutional development have earned him several prestigious recognitions, such as the Outstanding Achievement Award (ACROSET–2024, Indore), the 1st Prize from the Railway Board (Institution of Engineers, 2021), and awards from reputed organizations like the Deendayal Research Institute, Unmesh Gyan Vigyan Vichar Sangthan, and the M.P. Council of Science and Technology.
Prof. Mishra also holds editorial responsibilities as Associate Editor – Journal of Current Science, and serves on the editorial boards of several other esteemed journals.
Under his visionary leadership, MGCGV was accredited by the prestigious ‘A++’ Grade Accreditation by NAAC in December 2024, marking a historic achievement for the university. He has led major initiatives in curriculum reform, the introduction of value education, skill-based education in Madhya Pradesh, and the implementation of digital automation and sustainable practices at the university.
Prof. Mishra is an active member of numerous academic and policy-making bodies, including the General Council – NAAC, the Taskforce and Executive Committee for NEP-2020, and the Rajya Uchcha Shiksha Parishad. His sustained commitment to academic excellence, innovation, and rural upliftment continues to shape the future of higher education in Madhya Pradesh and beyond.
