The Directorate of Research was established in 2010 with the objectives of:
- Project Development and Submission: Preparing and submitting research proposals focused on developmental and welfare aspects. These proposals aim at attracting funding from both national and international agencies.
- Coordination Across Departments: Acting as a nexus for various research projects, the cell coordinates proposals and activities across different faculties and departments. This ensures that the university presents a unified and robust research front.
- Guidance and Counseling: The cell provides necessary training and advice to faculty on how to prepare high-quality, competitive research proposals, thereby helping to secure funding and improve project execution.
- Ph.D. Coursework Oversight: It also plays a role in coordinating centralized Ph.D. coursework, ensuring that doctoral programs are aligned with the research orientation of the university.
- Overall, Role within the University: The Research and Development Cell is a strategic component of MGCGV. It not only fosters innovative research by linking academic inquiry with developmental and social welfare objectives but also helps in integrating research activities with the broader mission of the institution, which is to serve rural development through sustainable technologies and practices.
